What makes me one of Omaha, Nebraska’s full service maternity and newborn photographer?

It can be so confusing trying to understand the difference between a full service portrait photographer and a shoot and burn photographer and why the costs can vary so much. A full service photographer, such as myself, will meet with you before your session, help you plan your session by sending a online questionnaire to get to know a little more about what you are wanting from your session down to the outfits, colors, setups and props that will be used during your session. I will also send you a session prep guide to give you tips and tricks to make your session stress free. I will guide you and pose you during your session and within a few minutes your nerves will settle and you will become a pro! I provide snacks and drinks (selected from your favorites that you chose in your questionnaire) and meet with you about a week following your session to go over your beautiful images together as I help guide you while choosing your favorites and any products that you love. I take care of all of your printing so you don’t have to worry about crop ratios (cutting off heads and limbs while choosing sizes) and color profiles (so that you know you are getting images that look EXACTLY as they are supposed to look because I calibrate my editing computers to my professional labs for quality control that you can’t get from a non-professional lab such as Walmart or Walgreens….ICK!) I am with you EVERY step of the way, providing a luxury experience, from the minute you reach out about your session until your final images and products have been delivered.

My studio is stocked with ALL the things you may need during your session. Of course I have a gorgeous client maternity closet with beautiful gowns and outfits that are available for my clients to wear during the session but there’s more! I also have a cozy Mommy room where you can relax and feed your baby in private with a fully stocked baby changing table in case you forgot diapers, rash ointment, baby wipes and un-opened binkies. I have everything from hair bobbie pins, lip gloss, hair spray, safety pins, nail glue stickers to nipple cream to sooth sore breast feeding nipples as well as lactation cookie snacks and cold drinks. I literally have tried to think of any and everything you could possibly need during your session to make you comfortable and care free. My longer newborn sessions even include snacks and treats that you have chosen while filling out your questionnaire so you don’t have to worry about feeding your kids before heading to the studio.

Shoot and burn photographers tend to be on the cheaper side because most of the time they are newer, inexperienced photographers and they haven’t discovered what all it takes to run a profitable photography business yet. I know, because I used to be one. It took me several years to discover that I wasn’t giving my clients the customer service experience that I wanted to provide and most of the time when I met a client at an outdoor location such as a local park, I wouldn’t even know what they looked like to introduce myself. Personally it was awkward photographing a family or senior that I had just met 2 minutes before in person having no idea what their personalities were like or whether or not they were going to be comfortable in front of the camera. I was giving my client digital images and sending them on their way to print at low par consumer labs, where the quality was horrible.

Once I decided that I was going to invest in myself and my photography education, I knew I also had to invest in learning how to provide my clients with an amazing customer service experience from start to finish. Of course this does make my sessions more expensive than when I was a shoot and burn photographer and for a very good reason. I am a member of Professional Photographers of America and Professional Photographers of Nebraska and I have amazing skills now, such as studio lighting and posing, detailed camera knowledge, editing skills and I have learned so many techniques to help clients feel comfortable in front of the camera and pose them in the most flattering poses for their body type. I have researched and found professional labs that only offer HIGH QUALITY, AMAZING heirloom prints and products and capture my images the EXACT way they were meant to look that are only available to professional photographers. I have quality and color control because I calibrate my editing computer to my pro labs to ensure the colors are spot on when printing and they only use archival materials to ensure that your prints, wall art and products last for a hundred years or more.

I reserve the amount of sessions I take every month so I can spend more quality time on each client. I want your experience to be customized and stress free. This also allows me to provide a fast turn around time so you don’t have to wait months for your final images. Rest assured you have chosen an experienced, legal and insured, knowledgeable photographer to capture beautiful images of the people you love the most while making the whole process stress free and easy! Hey Mama, I got you!
